World AIDS Day - December 1

Every year, on December 1st, the world commemorates World AIDS Day. People around the world unite to show support for people living with and affected by HIV and to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS. 

The newly formed Southeastern Synod Diversity and Justice Task Force would like to encourage everyone in the synod to do something to bring focus to World Aids Day.  Consider using one of the resources gathered by our team.

As we remain physically-distanced, the Southeastern Synod Mental Health Task Force invites you to join in on Mindfulness Mondays to help you connect your physical and mental well-being.

Join Bishop Strickland for a time of prayer once a month via zoom. We will pray for the needs of ourselves, our neighbors locally and globally, the needs of the church and world, and for what else might be in need that day of prayer.

ELCA World Hunger News

There are many congregations in the Southeastern Synod who have food ministries, or partner with non-profits in their communities to do food banks and hunger programs. The ELCA has an annual gathering that was slated to be held in Nashville, in early 2021, but has been changed to a virtual gathering instead.
 
This will be an excellent way to network with other food and hunger ministries, or to learn see if your congregation is interested in learning more.  
 
The annual gathering is to be held on January 20-23, 2021.  Here is a link for more information and to register:

Get Outside and Play! Days at Lutheranch

Friday, November 27

From Lutheranch:   Joins us for our upcoming "Get Outside and Play!" days on Nov 14, 15 and 27.  We are opening our gates to the public these dates and inviting everyone to come to Lutheranch and enjoy a beautiful fall day in God's wonderous creation. All activities (except horseback riding) will be self directed and outdoors to ensure safety during the ongoing pandemic.

ELCA Future Church design affirmed by ELCA Church Council

The Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) has affirmed the proposed Future Church design that is focused on a renewed purpose to activate the entire church so that more people may know the way of Jesus and discover community, justice and love. The council, which serves as the ELCA’s board of directors and legislative authority for the church between churchwide assemblies, held its electronic meeting Nov. 12-14.

The African Descent Lutheran Association develops important connections, advocates for congregations, promotes implementation of the National African Descent Strategy, and provides fellowship, learning and sharing opportunities. It also provides a forum for theological reflection for clergy and lay members through collaboration with other African descent organizations and networks.

    • Bishop Strickland will ordain Southeastern Synod candidate Ms. Rachel Patterson on behalf of Bishop Dillahunt of the Southern Ohio Synod.
    • Ms. Rachel Patterson has been called to serve in the Southern Ohio Synod.
