Online Giving - Vanco and Tithe.ly

Did you know that ELCA congregations that offer debit and credit card giving have seen significantly higher giving than congregations that did not offer online or mobile giving – more than three times higher? Or that while giving in services on Sunday once represented a majority of church income, the most common day of worship now brings in less than a third of total weekly giving?  Click this article to learn more about these services.

Have YOU Become Part of the Herd?

As members of the Lutheran church we belong to a herd of people with a multifaceted common bond. One of these bonds is in caring for others and in doing so we also must care for ourselves. Foremost on our minds in caring for others and ourselves over the past 14 months has been protection   from contracting Covid-19. A major gift for assisting all humans in recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, the vaccine, is now ours to take and join the herd if we will just do it.

Creating Safe and Affirming Places Within the Church

The first step to being an affirming church is to recognize that the church can do more to support its LGBTQIA+ members.  This PDF brochure is full of wonderful resources to help make your congregational space a more safe and affirming place.  This resource, and more, can be found on our page dedicated to LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

"God's Work. Our Hands." Sunday - September 12, 2021

This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

Leadership and Anxiety in the Church - workshop

Five Sessions Available:  May 13, June 9, August 19, Sep. 29, and Nov. 4, 2021

Rooted in Scripture and grounded in Bowen family systems theory, this workshop identifies differentiation of self and anxiety as two key variables impacting human functioning.  Leadership and Anxiety looks at the challenges presented by the rising levels of anxiety being experienced in churches today, as well as the role that self-differentiated leadership can play in calming such anxiety.  Works of fine art illustrating Biblical themes help facilitate theological reflection on the themes being presented.

Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton - "Music is Personal and Universal"

“How can I keep from singing?” In her May column for Living Lutheran, Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton notes that music, like God’s love, is at the same time deeply personal, sounding deep within an individual’s soul, and universal, ringing out to an entire community.

Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton issues statement on Mental Health Awareness

Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2 NRSV).

Since the global pandemic was declared in March 2020, many of us have endured extended emotional and psychological anguish. That experience may be dramatically worsened by the ugly realities of racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia or poverty. Our anguish has taken the form of sadness in isolation, anxiety in uncertainty, grief over loss, stress over economic challenges and worry over events beyond our control — including the tremendous impact of the crisis on our children.
