SESLYO Fall Board Meeting UPDATE!!!

8/4/2021

Hello SESLYO Participants and Parents!!!

First, I seem to have left off the parents from the original email sent on July 21, 2021.  Those details can be found AT THIS LINK HERE!  (Keep in mind that today's email has the latest updates, and some of the information from the July 21 link has been changed to reflect some safety updates.  So TODAY's email is the latest...but I wanted to have you all take a loot at the original email.)

Second, here is a full update on things as we move forward for our Fall Board Meeting on August 6-8...

As we have all seen, COVID cases are back on the rise.  As such, I and the adult advisors of SESLYO are making plans to keep all of us safer at this 2021 Fall SESLYO Board Meeting.

Our goal is to help our youth gather safely, while also giving them space to learn about God and to discern what ventures God is calling them to individually and as the youth of the synod.

We are keeping the dates/times the same:

  • Friday, August 6, 7:00-7:30pm ET, check-in
  • Sunday, August 8, by 9:30am ET, departure

Our first change is that we will NOT be staying at the Trinity House, but instead we will gather in and be housed in the McKanna-Sandrock retreat center at Lutheranch.  (Use this address: 440 Salem Church Road, Tallapoosa, GA 30176.). The retreat center will provide an environment in which we can be more spread out, and will allow us to house the youth and adults in rooms that are 2-3 persons to a room, as well as provide us with larger indoor space, so that we can spread out more when we do any indoor activities.

To keep folks safe, we are taking the following steps:

  • we know that 100% of participants (adults and youth) who are coming to the fall board meeting ARE vaccinated;
  • temperature checks will be conducted upon arrival;
  • we will wear masks for all indoor activities, except for eating and sleeping;
  • to keep folks separated during time of sleep, we are housing our youth two/three people per room, our adults will be housed 1 per room and masks will NOT be required while sleeping;
  • We will engage in outdoor activities as much as possible

The adult advisors are able to make adjustments to plans so that we can still provide food and safe housing for all.  In addition to the medical form and COVID waiver please bring  the attached forms that are required by Novus Way, Inc. and Lutheranch.  (Check the links at the bottom of this email.)

Suggested packing list:

  • Mask(s) for when we gather indoors
  • Bible
  • Notebook
  • Writing utensil

  • $75 per person to offset the cost of SESLYO events for the year (make checks to Southeastern Synod; or give online - ELCA-seems.org/give)

Please feel free to call or email me for questions / concerns.

And finally, if you are feeling sick or having any COVID symptoms, we request that you stay home and Zoom in for as much as you can.

The mission of God continues, and we will do our best to be a part of that mission.

Peace,
