Pursuant to the bylaws of the Southeastern Synod (S7.11.01.),
You are hereby given notice that the
2022 Southeastern Synod Assembly will be held
June 3, June 4, and June 5, 2022, at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
 

 
The Assembly will be focused around the theme:
“Unmute Yourself: Proclaim the Love of God to all the World”
 
The Southeastern Synod- ELCA will follow any local or national guidance regarding COVID 19 and will following the ELCA’s COVID 19 guidance for gathering in person for events. All attendees must share proof of vaccination or a negative COVID Test (78 hours of the start of the Assembly). Masks will be required throughout the Assembly.  Additional mitigation to reduce the risk of transmitting COVID 19 will be incorporated in the planning of this Assembly. Recommendations and requirements may change due to the ongoing nature of this pandemic. Please refer to the 2022 Southeastern Synod Assembly webpage for more information throughout the months leading up to the event. There are limited rooms available as a part of the Southeastern Synod block at the Downtown Chattanooga Marriott (there is a major festival also planned for the same weekend) and we encourage reserving your housing as early as possible here. Additional information and registration will be announced in early 2022.

During the 2022 Southeastern Synod Assembly we will be electing a Vice President of the Synod. The vice-president shall be elected by the Synod Assembly for a four- year term. May be re-elected, but may not serve more than eight years, whether consecutive or not. The vice-president shall be a lay person. The vice-president shall be a voting member of a congregation of this synod. The vice-president shall not receive a salary for the performance of the duties of the office.

Primary Responsibility: The vice-president shall chair the Synod Council. In the event of the death, resignation, or disability of the bishop, the vice-president, after consultation with the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, shall convene the Synod Council to arrange for the conduct of the duties of the bishop until a new bishop shall be elected or, in the case of temporary disability, until the bishop resumes full performance of the duties of the office.

Nominations for the Synod Vice President position will be received to the Nomination Committee in early 2022.

We will also be electing (2) at-large lay member on Synod Council. Biographical Forms for these positions will also be available in early 2022.
