June 2022 - Monthly Giving Focus - The Table, Nashville

Open Seating: Good Food for Hungry Folks is our weekly service. We gather EVERY SUNDAY NIGHT around 6:45 pm to visit and service begins at 7 pm. Every person is affirmed and welcome.     We read scripture, hear affirming messages, sing affirming songs, and gather around the Lord’s Table for communion (Eucharist). ALL people are welcome to participate and commune. We hope you’ll consider offering your gift (presence, music, reading, poetry, financial support, prayer…you know what’s right for you)

Holy Closure - From Death to Life

In December of 2021, the leadership of Common Table voted to close as a congregation, and the property was deeded to the synod. The Southeastern Synod then honored an already existing agreement and relationship with the daycare center that was renting the space to allow them to buy the property.

Even though the ministry there has ended, its legacy will live on for generations in Decatur, the Southeastern Synod, the ELCA, and globally. At its June 2022 synod council meeting, the council voted on the allocations and disbursements of the funds from the sale of this property. The legacy will now benefit ministries and persons in ways otherwise unimaginable.

Our Beloved Friends of the Sierra Pacific Synod

Recently, the Sierra Pacific Synod has been navigating some challenging times.   Bishop Kevin Strickland shared a letter earlier this week, explaining the synod's strife over the last several months.

After Bishop Strickland's letter was distributed to our synod, the Sierra Pacific Synod Vice President also wrote a letter calling on the ELCA to keep them in our prayers as they move forward, following the resignation of Bishop Megan Rohrer.

Poland: First Nine Women Ordained as Pastors

(LWI) - The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland took a historic step on 7 May, as Presiding Bishop Jerzy Samiec ordained nine women to the priesthood at a service in Warsaw’s Holy Trinity church. The event marked a concluding milestone in the discussion about women’s ordination which has been ongoing in the Polish church for decades.

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) vice president for Europe, Archbishop Urmas Viilma represented the global communion of Lutheran churches at the ordination service, saying: “The whole Lutheran communion celebrates and rejoices with you today!”
