Hurricane Fiona Relief →

On August 30, 2022, the pumps failed at the water treatment plant in Jackson, MS, and the entire city of Jackson, MS, was without water – for several weeks… 160,000 people without water.  Temporary repairs have been done to resume the water flow but the needed repairs will require political will and funds to rebuild a safe water system for the people of Jackson.  We accompany our sister congregation Ascension Lutheran Church in Jackson in working for sustainable clean water for the residents of Jackson. For too long people have had to rely on bottled water to drink and when the systems fail as they have done many times before, leaving residents without clean water to drink or bathe with, or to use to wash clothes or dishes.  Ascension Lutheran Church is reaching out to its neighbors and assisting in this response. The Southeastern Synod is working with them and with our churchwide partner LDR alongside partner organizations on the ground in Jackson to provide relief and work toward Long Term Recovery.  We are grateful to have Pastor Tom Clark serve as the disaster coordinator for our efforts in Jackson, a city and its people he loves and has served for many years.

Please consider donating bottled water or volunteering to help community organizations deliver water, TODAY!
