BISHOP STRICKLAND AND THE SYNOD STAFF AND MANY OF OUR ROSTERED MINISTERS WILL BE ATTENDING THE LEADERSHIP CONVOCATION AT LUTHERIDGE, OCT 17-20.

THIS WILL BE A TIME OF RENEWAL AND LEARNING FOR OUR SYNOD STAFF AND ROSTERED MINISTERS.

Join us LIVE at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Atlanta, GA, on Sunday, January 15, 2023, 4pm ET for the Bishop's Commemorative MLK Worship Service.   This will also be livestreamed via the synod website (https://www.elca-ses.org) as well as via our Facebook and YouTube pages.

Here is an excerpt from Bishop Strickland's letter to our siblings in Christ in Tennessee:

In Mark 12:31, as part of the Great Commandment, Jesus tells the disciples, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Our baptismal covenant mandates, "We will seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves, we will strive for justice and peace among all peoples and respect the dignity of every human being.” Black and brown bodies have borne far too much of racism’s burden, while white persons have remained comfortable in their privilege. For me, this is a non-negotiable; it is mine and, I think, our evangelical witness.

Slavery or involuntary servitude has no place in the state of Tennessee, or any state, or any place. God has made us heirs and, as such----free! Vote yes to Amendment 3! It is far past time.

Synod Ministry Resources

Diversity & Justice Blog:  "Why Is It So Hard to Ask?"

As human beings, we are naturally nervous around people who look or act differently than we do. One of the greatest sources of isolation and misunderstanding is our difficulty in asking our questions out loud. When it comes to people with disabilities, I gladly make myself available as a resource for pastors and congregations, but in a nutshell, my advice is ASK!
