Join Us This Advent as We Walk to Bethlehem

25 Days - 25 Miles - $25

From 12/1 - 12/25, we will walk 1 mile per day and donate at least $25.  If you are unable to walk, perhaps you could commit to learning about the Holy Land or doing a Bible Study instead.  Keep an eye on the Southeastern Synod's Advocacy Facebook page for additional ideas.

All the funds raised will go towards assisting Augusta Victoria Hospital on the Mount of Olives. This is a Lutheran-run hospital that provides health care to anyone in the Holy Land and nearby territories. This hospital, one we as Lutherans support, helps to ensure that barriers of religion, politics, land, don’t keep any one from receiving needed healthcare.

Blue Christmas/The Longest Night

For people who have lost loved ones or people without healthy families with whom to gather, the Christmas season can be one of the loneliest times of the year. This is why many churches have begun hosting a Blue Christmas/Longest Night service. The liturgy takes many forms, but the goal is the same—to create a sacred space for folks who often feel sad or out of sorts in the usual Christmas festivities. Blue Christmas/Longest Night services are often held on the shortest day of the year as a reminder that from here on out, things get lighter on account of Jesus’ birth. You are not alone.

HIV/AIDS Action Alert

In this Advent season of hope-filled and watchful waiting, we remember those who have died from HIV, and lift up all who are living with the disease in every corner of the world. Use #WorldAIDSDay to reflect on God's call to lift up the dignity and value of each person, and take action and encourage your lawmakers to continue renewed support for critical HIV/AIDS programs today.
