Assistant to the Bishop for Formation and Communication
What IS "Formation"? Seems like all of us are now going through a REformation process on FORMATION.
Gather with us at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Atlanta, on
Saturday, Feb 11, 2023, 9:00am-5:00pm

We welcome Daniel Kirschbaum (Program Director for ELCA Young Adults) and Rebbecca Payne (ELCA Innovation Hub) as our guest speakers/leaders for this event who will help us wrestle with what Formation looks like in YOUR context and will help to come up with some concrete plans for your Summer / Fall 2023 programming.

Registration is OPEN for our 2023 All-Georgia Youth Gathering. Come join other 6th-12th grade youth from around the Southeastern Synod, especially those from Georgia as we will be gathering IN-PERSON together. We will discuss what love for self, creation and others looks like in today's world.
When: February 24-26, 2023
Where: Camp Grace in Roberta, GA
Theme: "What is AGAPE?" (What is Love?)
Cost: $120/per person
Featuring special guests: Joe Davis and Dave Scherer (AGAPE)

All youth (6th-12th grade) are invited to attend.
At the Assembly, youth will experience youth-led worship, small groups, and workshops. The SESLYO Board will also have the assembly consider some resolutions and memorials to share with the entire Synod Assembly in June.

Affirm is a Summer Youth Event of the ELCA Southeastern Synod held at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama. Affirm nurtures faith, equips youth leaders for today and tomorrow, and trains youth in discipleship skills. Affirm is for youth who have completed grades 6-12 and the Young Adult and Youth Ministry Institute (YAYMI) is held simultaneously with AFFIRM For college freshman and sophomores interested in exploring a call to youth ministry.
In 2022, we gave out over $10,000 in scholarships to AFFIRM participants. Please consider helping us to replenish these funds to help make this event available to ALL youth who wish to attend.

The Southeastern Synod Formation Team and NovusWay have created several programs for 2023 to further our partnership in ministry, specificially at Lutheranch in Tallapoosa, GA.
In addition to our Confirmation Camp on Holy Baptism (April 2023), here is information for our "synod week" at Lutheranch.

Those attending from the Southeastern Synod will be able to receive scholarships from the synod Formation Team.

Let's hear from the YAGM Placement Manager:
YAGM applications are open now! As one group of volunteers enters the world, the YAGM team is getting ready to welcome the next. In the video above, Mae Helen Jackson, young adult outreach and placement manager, gives an update about ways the YAGM team is updating the program and making it more welcoming for everyone. Applications close Feb. 1, 2023, with priority given to those who apply before Jan. 15, 2023. YAGM is ready for you!

The ELCA Young Adult Ministry team at Churchwide is asking for 15 young adults to serve year-long terms* to help steer young adult ministries within the church in line with our vision statement, as well as uplift ideas, ongoing ministries, and more.
* The first cohort will have 7 members serve for 18 months, while the other 8 will serve for a year
