Rostered Ministers (retired or active) are invited to join Bishop Kevin Strickland at one of these services for an opportunity to renew your ordination vows, receive oils for use in ministry rites, receive Holy Communion, and gather with one another in prayer.

Following each of these services, Bishop Strickland will offer a time of conversation. Spouses are also welcomed to attend these services. As well, lay church staff are welcomed and invited to attend.

We invite you to join the Southeastern Synod on a Civil Rights Pilgrimage to experience places and learn about people that comprised the Civil Rights Movement. We will begin in Atlanta on Saturday, April 29th, 2023, and travel via a chartered bus, making stops in Montgomery and Selma, with an overnight stay in Birmingham, returning to Atlanta late afternoon on Sunday, April 30th. This pilgrimage includes stops at The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, The MLK National Historic Park, The Legacy Museum and Memorial, the Edmund Pettus Bridge, and The 16th Street Baptist Church/Kelly Ingram Park.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans like you are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.

 

2023 SESLYO Assembly

March 24-26, 2023

Lutheranch - Tallapoosa, GA

We invite all youth (6th through 12th grade) from EVERY congregation in our synod to join us.   More participants are welcome to attend from the same congregation, but only two folks from each church will have voice AND vote.

We will discuss issues pertinent to today's youth, and we will experience youth-led workshops and plenary sessions.

We will also elect new board members to SESLYO (Southeastern Synod Lutheran Youth Organization).

 

Confirmation Camp - "Lord's Prayer and the Creed"

April 21-23, 2023 - $99/person

Lutheranch - Tallapoosa, GA

Bishop Kevin Strickland and Pr. Michael Jannett (Assistant to the Bishop for Formation and Communication) have developed plans to gather Confirmation youth (and young adult and adult leaders) from across the synod for a time of formation and learning around The Lord's Prayer and the Creed.

This should prove helpful, especially for congregations with smaller Confirmation classes.   SIGN UP TODAY!!!!

 

Synod Week at Lutheranch - June 25-30, 2023

For children who have completed 3rd - 5th grades

Cost: $505 per person

Come and learn from leaders from the Southeastern Synod and Camp counselors at camp.  

Those attending from the Southeastern Synod will be able to receive scholarships from the synod Formation Team. 

2023 Synod Border Immersion Experience

August 26 - September 1, 2023

The Southeastern Synod will be sponsoring a Border Immersion Experience through Cristo Rey Lutheran Church in El Paso, Texas. Cristo Rey Border Immersion Program seeks to educate participants about border issues through shared learning, experience, work and prayer. There are about 4 spots left before we start a waitlist.

Donations for GA/AL Tornado Response Needed Especially Now

There is a great need at the moment for emergency assistance funds for families and individuals who have had their homes destroyed or have been made uninhabitable by the tornadoes. These storms impacted several areas within our synod.

Black History Month - "Talks at the Desk" (from African Descent Ministries of the ELCA)

African Descent Ministries of the ELCA is celebrating Black History Month with season two of Talks at the Desk, a video series that explores diverse expressions of the church. A new video will premiere each Wednesday in February at 7:30 pm Central time. Watch them live on YouTube or download them here. Nominations Open for Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church

At the 2022 Churchwide Assembly last August, voting members adopted a memorial concerning restructuring the ELCA’s governance, and in November the Church Council responded to this by authorizing the establishment of a Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church. Individuals who wish to be nominated for the commission or to nominate another person can learn more here. Nominations are open through March 9.

 

Lutheran Volunteer Corps - Seeking Applicants and Placement Sites

LVC has just begun recruitment for the 2023-24 Volunteer/ Fellow Cohort. We are excited that we have many applications already. In the last 4 years, under President Deirdre Bagley's leadership, we have increased the number of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC volunteers and have also increased the number of volunteers who are discerning seminary. We are truly living "Reconciling in Christ" and also have Social Justice programs.
