We give thanks for the many and various ways you reach out to serve your neighbor in generosity. Like your congregations, we plan our spending plan based on the intents we get from congregations. It inhibits our planning, spending, and ministry support when those are not received. To date, we have only received 10 from our over 150+ congregations. Please fill that out at the following link:

Rostered Ministers (retired or active) and spouses and church staff are invited to join Bishop Kevin Strickland at one of these services for an opportunity to renew your ordination vows, receive oils for use in ministry rites, receive Holy Communion, and gather with one another in prayer.

Gather with us on Sunday, March 26, 3-4:30pm ET / 2-3:30pm CT as we welcome Pr. Drew Tucker (University Pastor at Capital University & author) to discuss Vocation as it pertains to our Formation.

We will spend about an hour with Pr. Drew on this subject of Vocation as Formation, and follow that by breaking into breakout groups based on conferences.  Conferences 1-5 will put forth a nominee for synod council.  Conferences 6-9 will elect conference leadership.

2022 Annual Report to Bishop Strickland

Thank you for serving as a Rostered Minister of the ELCA in the Southeastern Synod.   These days are quite difficult for navigating ministry. We do sincerely give thanks for all of your hard work and your innovation, responding to God's call to love and serve.

As part of your call, and as a way for the bishop and the synod staff to support you, we require that you submit an annual Report to the Bishop.   This feedback is very valuable.

Baptismal Promises - Conversations in Lent

The call to discipleship begins in our baptism.  As such, we are on a lifelong journey of hope, forgiveness, and focus.   Our baptism sets us free to love and serve.   

In Lent of 2023, we will gather the synod together ONLINE to share in this re-discovering of the gift of BAPTISM.  These conversations will be recorded and shared on Wednesday mornings for personal or congregation use.

 

Disaster Coordinator Roundtable - "Crisis Clean-Up Line"

‘Crisis Clean Up Line – What is it? How does it work? How can I help?’ 

Our presenter and facilitator for this roundtable is Beth Smith, Middle TN Synod Volunteer Disaster Response Coordinator.

 

"Start Over" Boxes Needed in Wake of Tornadoes in Selma, AL!

"Starting over" boxes are needed for families moving into housing after the tornadoes in Selma! 

For Kitchen box: Pots and Pans, Dishes, Utensils, Glasses, Cups, Dish towels, Dish Soap, Small kitchen appliances, brooms, mops, and buckets. 

For bathroom box: Shower Curtain, towels, washcloths, waste basket. 

For Bedroom box: Inflatable mattress Queen-size, Pillows, Clothes hangers, Linen, and blanket. 

We hope that many of our congregations will participate in putting together boxes so many families can start over after such a devastating storm. Annual Congregational Report to ELCA (Forms A & C) due March 15

Each year the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) asks congregations to provide information about their people and activities. During the second week of January, all ELCA congregations, synod-authorized worshiping communities (SAWCs), and new starts will receive the 2022 annual congregation report packet through the mail.

As a Rostered Minister in the ELCA, you are invited to join colleagues under the theme of "Rekindle the gift within you". (2 Timothy 1:6).

Let this gathering be an opportunity for you to remember, reclaim, rekindle and revive yourself. Gathering with colleagues from across the church for fellowship, renewal, continuing education, worship, bible study and refreshment for your spirit.

Synod Prayer Ministry

PRAYER SESSION is (mostly) the 4th Monday of each month at 11am ET / 10am CT

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything make your requests to God...by prayer, thanksgiving and placing your request to God, the peace of God will guard your heart and mind fully beyond understanding (Phil. 4: 6–7)

The synod staff invites you to join in prayer.   Newcomers are always welcome!  

This team will meet once a month via zoom to pray. Praying for the needs of ourselves, our neighbors locally and globally, the needs of the church and world, and for what else might be in need that day of prayer.

Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary Names New Rector and Dean

The Rev. Dr. Chad Rimmer has been announced as rector and dean of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (LTSS) of Lenoir-Rhyne University, located in Columbia, SC. In this role, Rimmer will serve as the lead academic and church administrator for LTSS and work to further develop the seminary to an exemplary status within the ELCA. A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, Rimmer will begin on April 1.
