They are serving in our congregations, our synods, and our churchwide organization. I am especially grateful for those who lead our API ethnic ministries and the Association for Asians and Pacific Islanders. API people also contribute to the life, culture, and achievements of our country. I am deeply honored and humbled to be the first ELCA Vice President of Asian descent.

May is Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Awareness Month

All congregations are encouraged to choose any Sunday in May to share the truths about the ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women using the resources provided below. In addition, worship resources will be available for use in services on each congregation’s #MMIW Sunday. We know it will be the first time many congregation members have heard about this crisis, and we hope these resources continue to inspire conversation and learning in ministries and communities across our church.

ELCA #MMIW Sunday is also a day to encourage members and guests of your congregation to wear red to bring greater awareness to MMIW. Remember to post a photo on your post social media channels using the hashtag!

April Mission Support Memo from the ELCA

ALL Ages Living Their Faith

A story from our ELCA churchwide organization

Imagine people of ALL ages living their faith, claiming their Christian identity and sharing God’s love in the world in creative and unique ways — that is the hope for ELCA Ministry with Children. The Rev. Janelle Rozek Hooper, manager of the program, knows that children are spiritual beings and that they deserve not merely a place to be told what to believe but creative and careful faith formation that instills a lifetime of experiencing God with and for themselves. Funded through generous Mission Support, the program curates appropriate faith-formation resources for congregations across this church, content that gives children the opportunity to lead, ask important questions and experience loving Christian community.
